FinanceTracked is an international investing and stock market publication with deep coverage of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), global equities, and personal finance. Our reporting is produced by working journalists and reviewed by editors before publication. This page explains the standards our editorial team follows and what readers can expect from our work.
Our mission and scope
FinanceTracked publishes:
- Daily reporting on the NGX, including individual equity moves, corporate filings, insider transactions, sector shifts, and regulatory developments.
- Coverage of international stock markets, top-performing stocks, and investment analysis across US, European, and emerging-market exchanges.
- Personal finance guides on tax, retirement, credit, and wealth-building, written for readers across African and international markets.
We are open to readers from anywhere in the world, and our editorial choices reflect a genuinely international audience.
Accuracy and sourcing
Every article we publish is expected to be accurate at the time of publication.
- Reporters use original sources — corporate filings, regulatory notices, court documents, official statistics, and named interviews — as the basis for reporting.
- Information not gathered by our reporters or not common knowledge is clearly attributed, with hyperlinks to the primary source wherever possible.
- Financial data — including stock prices, earnings figures, dividend history, and economic indicators — is cross-checked against reliable market data providers (for example, NGX doclib for Nigerian listings and audited exchange feeds for international listings) before publication.
- Claims about company decisions, regulatory rulings, or market moves are anchored to a primary document (filing, press release, statute, or transcript) or a named on-the-record source.
- We do not rely on rumours, social media claims, or unverified secondhand reports as the basis of a news story.
Editorial review
Every article is edited before publication. No article goes live without an editor’s sign-off.
- Where an article involves technical or specialist subject matter, it is reviewed by an editor or subject-matter reviewer with relevant experience.
- Bylines identify the writer, and articles that have been reviewed by an editor with specialist credentials note that reviewer’s name.
- Author profiles disclose relevant certifications, professional licences, and years of experience covering the topic. Profiles are audited and updated on a rolling basis.
Use of AI
FinanceTracked does not publish AI-generated articles. All articles are written by human journalists.
Editorial staff may use AI tools for narrow support tasks — such as transcribing an interview, checking spelling, or organising research notes — but the reporting, analysis, and writing in every article is done by a person. Any use of AI beyond these support tasks would be disclosed to readers in the article.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism in any form, copying wording, arguments, or structure from another publication without attribution, is grounds for immediate termination of a writer’s contract or employment. We treat the intellectual work of other journalists and researchers with the same care we ask them to give ours.
Editorial independence
Editorial judgment at FinanceTracked is independent of commercial or advertising considerations. Advertisers and business partners do not review, approve, or influence editorial content before publication.
- Writers and editors do not receive direct compensation from advertisers or partners.
- Performance reviews and compensation for editorial staff are not affected by commercial relationships.
- When we publish sponsored content or advertorials, they are clearly labelled and separated from editorial reporting.
Fuller detail on how we handle advertising, affiliate relationships, and personal conflicts of interest is set out in our Ethics Policy and Affiliate Disclosure.
Coverage of Nigerian and international markets
Our NGX coverage is written to be useful to two audiences at once: domestic Nigerian investors, and international readers watching African equities. We aim to explain Nigerian market context — regulatory language, corporate structures, macro conditions — in a way that is precise for local readers and accessible to those unfamiliar with the market.
Our international coverage applies the same standards. We identify jurisdictions clearly, translate market terminology across regions, and avoid framing that assumes any single market as the default.
Corrections and updates
When we identify a factual error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Our full process for handling corrections, clarifications, and material updates is set out in our Corrections Policy.
